About MilliliterMilligram

The most accurate and easiest-to-use milliliter to milligram converter on the web.

Why We Built This

Converting between milliliters and milligrams isn't as straightforward as converting centimeters to inches. Because mL measures volume and mg measures mass, you need one crucial piece of information: the density of the substance.

Most online converters either ignore this fact entirely (giving wrong answers) or make you look up density values yourself. We built MilliliterMilligram.com to solve this problem — providing instant, accurate conversions with built-in density data for 50+ common substances.

Our Methodology

Every conversion on our site uses the standard physics formula:

mL → mg: mg = mL × density (g/mL) × 1000
mg → mL: mL = mg ÷ (density (g/mL) × 1000)

Our density values are sourced from established scientific references and represent standard conditions (approximately 20°C at 1 atmosphere). For most everyday applications — cooking, medicine, laboratory work — these values provide excellent accuracy.

Accuracy & Limitations

Our converter provides results accurate to at least 4 significant figures for all listed substances. However, please note:

  • Temperature sensitivity: Density varies slightly with temperature. Our values are at ~20°C.
  • Natural variation: Some natural substances (honey, milk, flour) can vary in density depending on source, brand, or condition.
  • Medical use: Always consult a healthcare professional for medication dosing. Our tool is for reference only.
  • Laboratory precision: For high-precision scientific work, measure density directly with calibrated equipment.
